The Ratingen-based services provider had a special focus on the further optimisation of its comprehensive payment and loyalty services and the rigorous expansion of additional value creation opportunities for customers and partners. Furthermore, the preparations for commencing acquiring maestro debit cards enabled easycash in 2008 to establish the basis for the further internationalisation of its business.

Continued growth was also recorded in Hamburg by the customer loyalty specialist, easycash Loyalty Solutions. Apart from the continued successful expansion in the customer loyalty area, prepaid cards exhibited particularly good performance with a double-digit growth rate that exceeded the forecast. The crucial driver here was the rapid implementation and stable operation of electronic gift cards.

Focus on security and innovative strength

"It is our intention, even in a challenging economic climate, to still offer our customers and partners long-term stability and security in payment transactions. Our range of cost-efficient services is particularly apt right now, including our online direct debit system, OLV®, in conjunction with our factoring service", says Siegfried Heimgärtner, CEO of easycash Holding GmbH. "Our innovative payment methods, easy signature and payeasy, are other examples of how we are pursuing this objective."

easy signature functions within the tried and trusted OLV® online direct debit system. Instead of the conventional method of signing the printed receipt, the signature is performed digitally using the Signature Pad. easy signature is already being successfully used in the retail trade.

In payeasy, easycash has developed another forward-looking payment method which is currently undergoing testing in various retail outlets. This innovation will facilitate various future authorisation methods for registered consumers, such as via fingerprint, digital signature or mobile telephone. payeasy is based on the cost-effective and secure OLV® online direct debiting system, which is compatible with the SEPA Direct Debit Method and usable throughout Europe.



Review

The processing of 864 million in-house payment transactions* means a growth of 16% in comparison to the previous year for easycash; within this number the share of electronic cash and maestro transactions amounted to 333 million, while credit cards accounted for 69 million transactions . The processed volume was valued at 49 billion Euro** and is therefore 7% higher than the comparable figure for the previous year. easycash Loyalty Solutions, the market leader in the comprehensive customer loyalty solutions sector, services around 14 million customers and prepaid cards, and with some 33 million transactions it contributed well to the growth of the Group. By the end of 2008, easycash operated 191,000 network terminals; this represented an increase of 10% in this sector. In 2008, the 360 employees of the easycash Group achieved a growth in turnover of 21% amounting to around 87 million EUR.

2009 - prospects

The agenda for 2009 includes the further expansion of all areas of the business, from infrastructure to network operations and payment processing right through to individual customer loyalty and prepaid solutions. The intensified activities in the European market will also encourage the development and expansion of innovative payment methods. easycash sees itself as a pioneer of innovation for everything POS-related, and it is committed to the idea of developing new technological standards for the retail industry and to support the process of modernisation throughout it.
