(businesspress24) - Founder of Breaking Barriers to be Highlighted In Statewide Media Campaign to Encourage Employment for Persons with Disabilities.

November 7, 2015

Wilmington, Delaware - What does rowing, fitness training, at risk youth, a Delaware Pathways to Employment video and West Point Military Academy all have in common? They are all important components of an innovative program to change lives offered by Breaking Barriers, a 501(c) 3 organization, located at 503 Hawley St., Wilmington, Delaware.

On November 12th, from 11:00 a.m. to Noon, Breaking Barriers will host Delaware Governor Jack Markell, and State officials, who will launch the Delaware Pathways to Employment Video. This video highlights the accomplishments of Dwayne Adams, founder of Breaking Barriers and four other individuals facing the challenges of physical disabilities. The event is open to the media.

€œBreaking Barriers is a complete program, which can impact a lot of youth. It is poised to go national, but the goal is to show that it happens first in the First State", says Dwayne. The Founder''s accomplishments includes being a personal trainer, rowing coach, motivational/public speaker, three-time member of the US National Adaptive Rowing Team, bronze medalist in the 2002 World Rowing Championship in Seville, Spain, and Breaking Barriers'' driving force. €œIt was an honor to be asked to do this video, Jill, who directed the video, was told about the work being done at Breaking Barriers."

The video will be used by the Department of Health and Social Services, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Department of Education, schools, and nonprofit groups. The aim is to promote the benefits of employment opportunities for people with disabilities among individuals, their parents and prospective employers.

Dwayne''s participation in the video, is yet another source of inspiration and continues to highlight the important work that he and Breaking Barriers are doing for the community. His unique approach, combining rowing, circuit training and cyber-learning has caught the attention of West Point Military Academy, who is currently in talks with Breaking Barriers to develop a military academy prep program. The prep program promises to increase the awareness of opportunities for disadvantaged youth, in military academies. It will also prepare them to succeed in meeting the physical and academic requirements of the academies.

About Dwayne Adams

It was Dwayne''s tragedy of being struck and blinded in the left eye, by indiscriminate gunfire, while sitting on steps in a Philadelphia neighborhood that helped motivate Dwayne to become a catalyst for change and to give birth to Breaking Barriers. Dwayne''s tireless efforts in nurturing his organization have produced encouraging results. Dwayne has earned such as the 2010 NAACP Outstanding Citizen Award, Prince Hall 2011 Humanitarian of the Year Award, and a €œResolution", passed by PA House of State Representatives in the name of Breaking Barriers.
