Iskratel and AVM achieve interoperability of their flagship GPON products

Iskratel and AVM join forces to meet the increasing demand for high-speed broadband in Germany, with new product portfolio

(businesspress24) - Kranj, Slovenia and Berlin, Germany, 18 March 2019 – Iskratel, the leading European vendor of broadband solutions, and AVM, the leading manufacturer of broadband devices for Digital Subscriber Line (DSL), cable, LTE and fibre optics in Germany and Europe, today announced they have successfully achieved interoperability of Iskratel’s Optical Line Terminals (OLTs) with AVM’s Optical Network Terminal (ONTs).

Having already achieved interoperability in 2011, the two major European vendors joined forces again with their flagship GPON products: Iskratel’s SI3000 Lumia G16 and AVM’s FRITZ!Box 5491.The SI3000 Lumia demonstrates market-leading density, scalability and interoperability, and is the world’s first dual-nature PON OLT, which enables operators to seamlessly migrate to a fully virtualised software-defined broadband solution.

With its FRITZ!Box 5491, AVM offers a powerful all-in-one device which can deliver GPON connectivity for internet, telephony, home networking and smart home applications. By combining fast gigabit LAN and dual-band wireless LAN ac/n with mesh technology efficient and fast optimal networking can be ensured. For convenient HD telephony, the FRITZ!Box for GPON incorporates a telephone system with answering machines, an integrated DECT base station for up to six cordless telephones, and connection options for analogue, ISDN and IP telephones. Smart home functions based on DECT round is also included in the full range of features.

Interoperability between Iskratel’s and AVM’s GPON products was demonstrated for the first time at the FTTH Conference, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, which took place from March 12, until March 14.

Iskratel’s SI3000 Lumia will be on display alongside its comprehensive portfolio of broadband access solutions at Stand 102, at Fiberdays19, which takes place at RheinMain Congress Center in Wiesbaden, Germany, from Monday, March 25 until Thursday, March 28, 2019.
